Nappy chat

A great way to build communication early is to talk to your baby...seems easy right? But what do you say to someone who can’t understand you yet and has no words to chat back?!

My tip...Start off small and talk about what’s around you. You could talk about something on their babygrow or their nappy. Most nappies have pictures on that you can talk about:

‘You have a giraffe on your nappy this morning! 🦒 Giraffes are very tall and eat leaves! This giraffe is yellow.’

You could count toes, wiggling each one as you go, or play "This little piggy went to market" or "Round and round the garden".

Your baby will love hearing the sound of your voice, and as they get older will start to pick up on familiar words.
